"Book Influencers: How to Work with Readers on Social Media (and How to Spot Red Flags)" with Manon Wogahn (aka @mysterymanon)
Book influencers have changed the book marketing game. As the online authorities on reading, influencers are known for passionate reviews, book recommendations, and building authentic book buzz. Everyone from big publishers to indie authors can—and should—take advantage of this passionate group of readers. But with literally millions of books published each year, there is no guarantee that a book influencer will see and share your book organically. Sometimes, you need to entice them.
This session will use case studies and the presenter’s own experience to take attendees through the key components of liaising with book influencers, focusing on:
- Finding and vetting book influencers;
- Avoiding marketing scams and red flags; and
- Proper outreach and engagement etiquette.
Authors seeking to work with book influencers will find value in vetting and outreach methods, low-cost incentives for posts, and Manon’s own expertise as a book influencer on Instagram and TikTok.
About the Speaker..
Manon Wogahn (aka @mysterymanon) is a bookish content creator with a love for fictional crime. She edits the Cluesletter, the email newsletter for mystery lovers, and works for AuthorImprints, a self-publishing services company. Manon credits her art history degree for her obsessions with beautiful books and the Chicago Manual of Style. As for the mystery obsession, she can only blame Trixie Belden, Nancy Drew, and her own nosy inclinations. Manon lives in Carlsbad.
